We have three children, two of which are school age (9 years and 14 years). Does anyone know what fees we will pay for school - one primary and one secondary? Quoll Posted March 19, 2018 Share Posted March 19, 2018 It may differ from school to school, you must speak to authorized person in schools and choose the best for them.No, it won’t differ from school to school if the OP enrolls in the government sector as the link above demonstrates there are fixed charges. Private schools are a law unto themselves and can charge what the market will bear. There aren’t any “authorized persons” in schools who would advise on the best for kids other than if, perhaps, they have disabilities where different options may be available. It’s also worth noting that temporary visa holders in SA may enrol in the local school - if there are places available however the implication there is that if there is not a place in the local school they might be directed to another school which has vacancies. FWIW, you may want to look at private schools for the amount you can pay for them over state schools on a 457. If you live in an area with good options state school wise its great, but if you don't or you prefer them both at the same school say, look to private. Although for high school the fees are going to be at least a few thousand dollars more per year than the state school 457 fees. Current fees Henley High School Materials and Services Charges 2018: $760.00 + Subject Charges http://www.henleyhs.sa.edu.au/section/enrolments/fees-charges We also had to buy the uniform, sports uniform and a laptop from the school. They aren’t allowed to use there own. They do allow you to pay monthly or fortnightly too. Lots of people have use payment plans for school fees, uniforms etc if you need them. If you choose a state school you will have to live in the catchment area. Henley Beach was a lovely area to live and the schools are brilliant. I highly recommend that area. samlab Posted April 16, 2018 Share Posted April 16, 2018 OMG, sorry I didn’t know that. We arrived in 2014. That’s going to be so hard for so many people! Our son hasn’t been able to continue his education passed secondary level as he’s classed as an International student and the fees are out of our reach.
