@newjez what should i do ? Bitcoin seems to be going up $1000 every day.

Even on Christmas Day bitcoin went up $1K. why are people buying bitcoin on christmas day beats me ?

Should I sell or keep riding the wave ?

Must admit i am a bit conflicted as it is outperforming every investment i have ever had.

Further to that, looking at my example, now we have a deal and vaccines, rolls Royce will continue to do well. It makes sense. I wouldn't be surprised if they doubled over a year.

Bitcoin? Who knows. £60000 or £6000?

Anyone's guess.

Sell Parley. Convert it to real money and go down the pub to spend your profits.

I thought you said you only had 1 ?    The way you've been banging on i thought you had 50.

If i were you i would sell 50% and keep the rest, spread the risk and return, buy a nice steak and bottle of wine.

The real trick is to sell your bitcoin before the bubble bursts. Unfortunately nobody knows when that is going to happen.

I've often wondered if people do sell when it's a high price and if they get the price quoted for real money. I've heard of plenty saying they have bitcoin but never come across anyone that's converted it back and made a profit.

I'm sure it happens and if I had some, bought at the right price, I would be converting them back right now.

Well interesting that a large correction happened yesterday. Bitcoin dropped from high of $34,500 down to $28,000. A bit worrying but 1 day later they are recovering and now back at $32,500.

That seems to be a good sign to me. Hopefully it consolidates a bit around these levels for a few weeks.

Did you check which direction the wind was blowing from?

Seriously though, there are some worrying things going on politically. Gold is going a bit wild too. Not sure that bitcoin is the new gold.

And I'm not sure that you can use something as a currency when it is so volatile. How would you buy a car with it if the value of the car in bitcoin varies so much from day to day?

I'm not really sure what purpose these currencies have other than speculative investments. There seems to be an unresolved liquidity issue.

Lucky you didn't listen when they were $17000 the first time.

When someone can explain what makes it go up and down, I might buy some.

In the meantime, I understand hydrogen power and I'm invested in it.

I understand covid and vaccines and I'm invested in it.

Don't invest in Ponzi schemes you don't understand. Easiest way to lose money.

Shame you didn't appreciate how cheap they were when they were $17K.

You would have doubled your money in 6 weeks.

Are they cheap now, and how did you establish that theory?

I can go to a casino if I want to gamble parley.

Buy some more if you think they are going up further. Sell if you don't.

Don't listen to me but even J P Morgan Bank reckon it could go to $146,000 USD.

https://www.cnbc.com/2021/01/05/jpmorgan-bitcoin-price-could-rise-to-146k-as-it-competes-with-gold.html?&doc=106819612

So current levels could be considered very cheap in the future.

I am not buying any more though currently.

If you had bought a hundred when they were $17000 you would be a millionaire.

Do you feel like you missed out?

I don't.

Looking at the stock market, there's a pretty good chance with stimulus and covid recovery that the market will be much higher next year.

Bitcoin? Who knows? Who cares?

It sounds like you guys know what you are doing with BC, I don't have the cajones to invest in such a volatile currency. I suppose if you just buy one it could have some appeal if you want to hedge your bets, but traders have also killed themselves gambling on BC and making huge losses. Google it and you will see sad stories all over the internet about it.

People have killed themselves for all sorts of reasons Red Rose. After big stock market crashes as well. Nothing special about Bitcoin in that way.

I think people really get into trouble when they use leverage, which is effectively borrowed money.

I only invest my own money and only a small percentage of my total portfolio would go into bitcoin.

Having said all that, Bitcoin is currently at an all time high, so how can anyone be losing money on bitcoin ?

The people still holding the bitcoin when the music stops will be the losers.

The price of Gold is also very volatile, but it has an intrinsic value for jewellery and some industrial uses so it'll never fall to zero even if everyone stops using it as an investment. Bitcoin on the other hand has no intrinsic value and like any other Ponzi scheme relies upon new investors. It will eventually collapse - although it may get to US$146,000 on the route.

You can call it a ponzi if you wish. Many critics like to toss that around. Doesn't bother me.

I plan to sell the day before the bubble bursts 😀

On a serious note, I will look to sell out of all my crypto when the time is right. It has gone up too much to carry on at this rate for long. But the good thing is there is limited supply and it has global recognition and demand is high all over the world. So i don't see it bursting any time soon.
