Hi where would be best to set up home in nsw and have work for bricklayer. We ideally would like as close to Queensland as we can get. Whilst still staying in nsw... or would it be better to stay closer to Sydney for work?? Also have two children so school is important and ideally beach location?? Exhausted my Google searches and thought I'd check on here

If he's going to work in Sydney then consider the Central Coast to the North of Sydney, or Engadine in the South.  However you'll be eleven hours' drive from Queensland.

I'm not sure what the job market is like in Newcastle now, but it 's much cheaper and there used to be a reasonable amount of work there.  It is a couple of hours further north than Sydney, and it's got a great beach in town plus some lovely seaside resorts close by - just as good as anything you'd find in southern Queensland IMO.

Start with the work then look for where to settle - if you want to be up near Qld then apply for work up there if you can’t get any then move to where you can get work. Don’t bother with Google, get your job applications in and see what happens. If you haven’t arrived yet, be very flexible for a few months and go where you get job offers.

A beach isn’t much good if you can’t support yourself and don’t worry about getting the kids into school instantly, nobody is going to give a toss if you keep them out for a couple of months while you suss where you will be working.

Actually good point, a lot of people assume that if they want a beach lifestyle with nice weather, then they've got to go to Queensland.  In fact, there are gorgeous beaches all the way along the East Coast of Australia (and a lot of other places too).  The beaches in NSW are every bit as nice as the Queensland ones, and the temperature isn't as hot and sticky either.
