Driving license in WA

Hi,

I held my Hong Kong driving license (which is in English), and applied WA driving license at least three year ago. At that time, Hong Kong driving license was not on the list of recognised countries. I was granted a Learner driving license at the moment, and needed to pass the driving test to get WA driving license. According to the officer in the transport department, I can keep using my Hong Kong driving license, until it is expired.

Recently, I got my Hong Kong driving license renewed, and Hong Kong driving license is now one of the recognised countries. I would like to know whether I can apply WA driving license straightaway, without sitting the driving test.

Thanks very much,

It may not be simple if you have already been issued with a WA learners permit. You will need to check with the dept of transport.

Usually, when you convert your licence you haven't been granted any type of WA one.

According to the website, for HK -  if you are over 25 you are not required to sit/pass the theory practical test (but must do so if under 25). You will need to provide official confirmation that you held a HK driver licence previously if your new one is less than 12 months old.
