gra001
Hi, in Oz from the UK and have had reason to visit docs for prescription, my understanding is that I can reclaim part of docs fee via Medicare but not for the medication charge. Also, had to call 000, again I think there will be a charge which is not reclaimable via Medicare, however, is there any form of reciprocal arrangement between UK and Oz to cover this?....thanks
Quoll
If you called 000 and an ambulance came then you will be slugged quite expensively for the cost of that. There is no reciprocity with respect to ambulances and if you are a tourist your travel insurance should cover it or if you are a resident then you need to take out ambulance insurance (unless you live and reside in Queensland where it is different). You are liable for part of the GP consultation and all of the medicines - there is no insurance (other than travel insurance if you are visiting) which will cover that. Patphillips47
You need to register with Medicare to get a rebate on the docs visit Not sure about the ambulance ( which often costs a fortune ) but do you have travel insurance that might cover other costs
Guest
What the others said. If you are on a tourist visa, hopefully you have some travel insurance to be able to make a claim on it. Btw, hope you are on the mend and feeling better.
