welder85
Hi All, We are heading over to Aus on a long hol/Reecy mission in January. We plan on doing a lot of camping on the west coast- Margaret river, up to Broome etc. Obviously we do not want to spend $750+ on a new tent for a couple of months so would like to post ours to our friends so it's there when we get there, does anyone know if they have to pay gst on it? I've looked online and can't really see a proper clear answer. Thanks
Evandale
If you are posting you are required to fill out a customers declaration form stating the value of the item. If you tick "gift" and it is under the $900 threshold then hopefully you are fine. Unless it is a special tent would it not be cheaper to buy here or get your friends to look on Gumtree etc? welder85
Thanks for the reply. The prob is, we've hardly used the tent so if we sell it here we will lose a fair wedge as it's 'last years'...plus we like it! Ha. It's not worth $900 so that's on the plus side. calNgary
You should be fine if you post it as a gift and its less than a 1000 in value, altough you may be better using someone like TNT as id imagine normal post will be quite expensive. Also bear in mind If WA is anything like QLD in January its going to be stinking hot and uncomfy in a tent for more than a few nights here and there.
