So our boxes have arrived. We are only renting so will be moving in about 7 months (not going to request to extend lease). We're not going to unpack absolutely everything however don't have the room to store it all in this rental. We have a garage that has a roof, two walls and the roller door. The other end of the garage has a wall built half the height of the other walls so quite a bit of access to the elements.
Does anyone have experience with storing boxes practically outside? We can keep them to the side of the garage where there is a roller door and walls, however, the rain does come in via the other wall (not flooding and not reaching the roller door end). So the boxes should stay dry. However, coupled with humidity and the fact bugs etc. can access our garage I wondered if this was is foolish to even consider this? The boxes have books, paintings and other associated household products.
By Charlie RMy husband has the opportunity to get a job in Sydney and i always said it was the one place i would go... so here we are considering shipping our little family early next year which is rather daunting. My son is 3 (29th May 2014) so i presume he won't be starting school for a while which seems odd as he seems school ready here but that might just be because of the nursery/pre-school he is at here. And my daughter currently does 2 days at a nursery. We're thinking we'll live there for a few years and then return to the UK but i worry about my son being behind in terms of education when we come back because of starting school so much later in Oz. Has anyone found this? and when would he actually start school? I presume we're not entitled to any sort of funding like you get in the UK with the 15 hours. Is there the opportunity for them both to do morning child care on a few days a week? We're look at living in the suburbs around Manly which i presume we need to secure first before even looking at child care places. Thank you for any advice - feeling totally clueless and rather daunted by the prospect!
By Mtotheb81Hi Guys
We are seriously considering moving to Brisbane/Sunshine Coast but are a bit lost in terms of where to move.
We are looking for great junior and High schools, ideally state but open to private. Ideally somewhere not to isolated but not too busy! The dream is to be close to the sea but willing to travel 1hr to go to the beach. Want to avoid the Gold Coast.
Our main concern is everywhere we look in Brisbane and Sunshine Coast has flood risks! We did think of Buderim but it seems very sleepy which I’m not sure will be good for teenagers. We also looked at Red cliff but seems a bit isolated and run down. Do you guys have any ideas? Thanks for your time!
