North to South
Hi, We're heading to Brisbane for 5 days and thinking of heading north to Noosa and wondered if anyone had any thoughts on the area or other areas we could consider staying in and around Brisbane , but north the Gold Coast. Thanks, Rich
calNgary
No idea on your budget but a night at Tangalooma is nice and something different. The ferry departs from Brisbane. Noosa is lovely for a short stay but can be expensive ,we also head up to Mooloolaba for a weekend break a few times a year as that too is a lovely area. On a cheaper budget Caloundra is great for a few days away, plenty of shops, nice beaches massive choice of accommodation etc In Brisbane itself Mantra on felix is a nice hotel ideally located to explore everything or Mantra Midtown, both favorites of ours. strayadreams
Noosa is just gorgeous, anywhere near Hastings street is usually good. For a less expensive option we enjoy Bribie Island for a good range of beaches and scenery. If you're into inland areas Maleny and Montville are worth a visit too. There's also the glass house mountains....so much to see! Have a great trip.
jonnyraceway
Noosa is fantastic and by far my favourite holiday spot in Australia. Plenty to do and see in and around the area and Noosa itself is a classy little town.
Guest The Pom Queen
We have visited twice and stayed in the Hotel Laguna Apartments, the last time we went they were all receiving a huge makeover. You can ask for views over the river or overlooking the hustle and bustle of Hasting Street. There are others but we found this was the most reasonably priced. http://www.hotellaguna.com.au/ there are plenty of cafe/bars and boutique shops within walking distance, along with the parks and beach. If you are lucky you may even see the dolphins playing in the marina. Here are a couple of photos of the view from the room and Noosa itself, don't forget to do the lookout at sunset. I really do like Noosa. Like mentioned try and stay on Hastings Street. If you can't get accommodation there you may have to look in Noosa Heads town area but be warned it's a long steep hill to walk up and down. i would recommend catching the little ferry that goes from behind the hotel, up the Noosa river and to the Marina, the fish and chips there are excellent and fresh. You could also go across on the Tewantin Ferry to Noosa Northshore where you can drive on the beach and reach as far up as Fraser Island.
