I'm worried about the snakes again this season, the neighbour came to show us the skin from an Eastern Brown around 2 meters. I can't lose another dog. mintywind
We're almost done with the tick season. Before the season begins, we give our pets Advantix. It's effective!

Because of the climate in Tassie it's not present here - we don't have the mosquito problem.

I actually cover my dog with baby powder because apparently ticks and fleas don't like baby powder. My dog is in sea water every day and I've never seen a tick or flea on him. I use Frontline only every 8 weeks in summer. Might try baby powder too.
Bobj
Had a border collie when I lived in Kununurra, 50 years ago. Went to Perth on holiday, the dog was hit by a car so I took her to a vet. She was ok but the vet found 3 ticks on her and berated me for bringing ticks into WA. I reminded the vet that Kununurra is in WA. Apologies to me... Quite used to seeing ticks as big as grapes hanging from many dogs while I was living in the Kimberlies. Cheers, Bobj.
FeralBeryl
My cat sleeps on my bed. In fact, usually on my pillow. I didn't check her properly when she came in. I got a tick on my eyelid. Had to go to hospital and have it removed. It was a very unpleasant experience.
