Registering as a primary teacher in Queensland

Hi there everone.

I just wondered if there was anyone out there who could point me in the right direction.

My wife, a nurse, has been leading the whole process of getting us out to Oz and has secured 189 Visas for herself, me and our two girls, and we are heading to Queensland before the end of the year.

The initial plan is that she will work full time while I look after getting the girls settled in schools. Once that is sorted the intention is that I will return to work and look to go full time so she can reduce her hours and spend more time with the children.

I am currently an Early Years teacher (teaching 4 to 5 year olds) with a 3 year degree in Humanities, a PGCE, and 6 years of teaching experience.

I am aware teaching appears to be over-subscribed as a profession and realise I might have to look at other avenues ( I have previously worked in sales and as a sub-editor)  but I just want to know what I would need to do to go about getting registered if I already have the 189 and if that is something I should try and sort out here before we leave or should do after we have arrived?

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Cheers,

Matt
