RRR2020
HI, Has anyone successfully migrated to Australia in the last few years via the 187 RSMS visa? My wife filed an EoI on 15th August. How long does it usually take for an employer to get in touch with me?
VERYSTORMY
Has your wife got an employer willing to sponsor?
RRR2020
Not yet, @VERYSTORMY We just filed the EoI yesterday, so I was wondering if her details get uploaded to a database that employers get to check or whether we need to start contacting potential employers. Nemesis
Do you not need a sponsor in order to lodge the EOI?
RRR2020
We don't need a sponsor to lodge the EOI. But we need an employer to sponsor us fo the visa though. That's the next step that I'm stuck at. I'm not having much luck in finding employers sitting outside Australia.
rammygirl
It is very very unlikely that you will get an employer to pick you up from an EOI. What is your occupation? Can you not apply for 189 or 190 visa?
RRR2020
Occupation is 224712 - Organization & Methods Analyst. We're short of points to apply for 189 & 190 visas. That's the reason we're trying for RSMS and ENS.
VERYSTORMY
No employer is going to get in touch with you by filling in an eoi. No employer would even know you have filled in an eoi. The department of immigration are not a job agency. You need to find an employer willing and able to sponsor.

This website states differently: https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Visa-1/187- That's the reason why I assumed that my wife at least stands a chance to get contacted by an employer. MaggieMay24
Although the system is set up to allow employers to view EOIs for 186 and 187 hopefuls, the reality is that this never ever happens. Most employers wouldn't be aware that they can view EOIs and even if they were, they'd likely prefer to advertise their positions and see if they can first find a local candidate. So your better approach would be to look for job vacancies (Seek is the major job board in Australia) and hope that prospective employers are willing to consider an overseas candidate. Be prepared for this to be unsuccessful though given the complexity and lengthy processing times for employer-sponsored visas

My wife has started contacting employers (largest first) in different regional areas of Australia to find one that will interview her and hopefully nominate her.
