Partner/De Facto Visa Advice NEEDED

Hey, all. This is my first time ever writing on a forum, let's see how it goes :)

Just to give you a brief overview - I am a British Expat living in Dubai and have done so for the past 8 years. My partner, also British, is a permanent resident in Australia. We have been together for 3 years now surviving as a long distance couple, travelling back and forth to see each other. But it's time now that one of us makes the move, and it's going to be me moving there. I will be moving there sometime early 2018 on a working/holiday visa to start, with the hope of gathering enough evidence to submit an application for the partner visa. I've seen a lot on forums about the partner visa but never seen much of it done through the working/holiday visa. We will start off living with his Mum up until we can afford to rent or buy somewhere. I understand that I will need to be data gathering constantly to show that we in a strong, stable relationship and that I genuinely what to live there.

So, what I really need is some advice on lodging my application for the partner visa whilst I am on the working/holiday visa.... The time scale in which I need to send our application through (straight away, 6 months, 1 Year?.... What evidence we really need to be focusing on gathering.... Any temporary visas/bridging visas I can apply for to enable me to seek full-time employment.... Anything else you think I should know that can guide me in the process.

All advice is greatly received, and I look forward to hearing from some of you :)

You need to read the partner visa PDF and fully understand what it entails.

https://www.border.gov.au/Forms/Documents/1127.pdf

You can go to Aus on a WHV and clock up de facto time on that. But yes, you will have to ensure you can document and provide evidence for the time. Including things like paying rent, getting receipts for that (even if with family and its token rent, contributing towards bills etc), stat decs from the home owners to support this etc.

Plus doing things like setting up a bank account with the address you are both living at. Or even better, a joint account. Or if not, one each and able to show money transferred between you both for rent, food, socialising etc. Car insurance, you as the named driver on his policy. Those sorts of things.

What state are you going to be living in? If its one of the ones where you can register your relationship that will help a lot. How this works re the parter visa is explained in the PDF. Ensure you understand that as it could be a very important thing.

You need 12 months de facto iirc and falling short of this could prove an issue otherwise. So ensure you can meet the partner visa requirements in full before you lodge. If that means you have to do your second year WHV and get 3 months regional work in to get the second year, then so be it. You can use that extra time for your de facto. If you can register your relationship in your state, great.

Once you've lodged your partner visa, the bridging visa will only kick in once your current visa runs out. There is no bridging visa you can apply for. Thats not how they work.

As I said, read the partner visa PDF, get your head round it and be up to speed and much of what you are asking is explained in there.

Hi everyone
My question is, After 10 months of lodging my defacto/partner visa 309/100 I have been requested to provide my sponsor's police clearance certificate and We have submitted. Can anyone advise me if this means my visa grant is very near? Can someone provide me an estimated time by when I should expect the visa grant?
