Partner Visa Proof of Relationship

Recommended Posts

Im Australian and my partner is English. We've applied for a partner visa and been told we need more proof that we were in a defacto relationship before we applied. We were living with his dad and his dad has done a stat dec, plus we've got letters and bills etc addressed to us there but they said they need a lease or rental agreement. We didnt have one because it was his dads house but now were trying to work out if theres a way to make one and back date it? If not is there anything else we can provide to prove we were living in a defacto relationship?

Thanks

I'd be consulting a reputable migration agent to see what you can do. If a stat dec from the father (who is the homeowner?) has proved to not be sufficient then I think you need to seek an agent out to see what you can do from here.

Did you both pay rent while living there? Can you show this in bank statements of a regular amount to his Dad? Do you have receipts for the rent? It sounds like you are needing more proof than you've provided and if you did not provide those sorts of things to back it up you may well be a bit stuck. Concocting that sort of thing after the event could be dodgy and a silly thing to do. But an agent can hopefully guide you.

Definitely speak to an agent, as already suggested.

And think creatively. Do you have proof from employers that you both lived there together - official work records, official listing of each other as 'next of kin' contacts, that sort of thing. Wills in favour of each other, both quoting the same address. Other 'officials' r 'pillars of society' who can write stat decs to state you were living there as a married couple.

All just suggestions, above all get professional help.

Mobile phone bills, bank statements, credit card statements, driving licence, medicare card, electoral register details, all of these should have your name and address on them

Think creatively about documentation to prove you were at the same address, you must have this type of thing if you were both working, had bank accounts (no joint account?), phone contracts, invites and correspondence to you both . Do not concoct a dodgy rental agreement, if they suss you out, it'll be a decline and possibly barred from applying for a number of years plus a waste of money.
