Guest
Hi Have read a few posts on here and googled, however am a bit unsure. We have annual travel insurance. Surely until we actually reach Australia (and therefore become Australian residents) we would still be considered a UK resident? We're stopping off in Singapore which makes things a little more complicated. Anyone know for sure? Unfortunately we won't be able to ask our insurance provider this until Monday (when they open) however we travel tomorrow (Sunday).
amibovered
Well, for one thing, if you became unwell in Singapore and needed medical repatriation your current travel insurance would only send you back to the UK.
LKC
We took out one way travel insurance when we came out here, and have done the same for going back, so you could do that for peace of mind. The company we used coming out this way was Go Walkabout, I don't think it was expensive, we just took it for the journey and first couple of weeks as after that we figured we'd have a Medicare number. NicF
If you read the T&Cs on your insurance you will probably find that it covers you for trips starting and ending in the UK and therefore will not cover you for the one way trip to Australia. As LKC states above you will need one way travel insurance instead.
Guest
We used STA. Decent for one way travel insurance. They may require you to go in in person to arrange the cover is the only thing. Check their website and see perhaps.
