He is planning to in 1-2 years time .He is 44.5 years old .I am aksing him to apply for PR now as age will bar later . We are not married .My worry is if he is refused PR ! I want to hire an agent .Any suggestions welcome
starlight7
I'd do it sooner rather than later given his age. If charges were dropped hopefully nothing will show up on police record checks.

On what grounds are you moving -do you have PR visas or citizenship? if so you could possibly sponsor him for a de facto visa and he would not need to go down the skills route -which he cannot do after he becomes 45" anyway. Not really enough info to go on.
Treeoz
I am applying for 457 as well as PR now .We are living seperately at the moment . I have a 4 year job . Maybe after I get PR might have to sponsor him ! As we live seperately but have children together , was unsure if we can prove that we are still partners ! we were married for 21 years but following Bipolar manic episode , we were unable to live in same house hence divorced . Bit of nightmare story really. We are still friends and want him near us as we have 2 girls .

If he wants PR on skills he will need to do it before he is 45, for starters. After that it might be possible for you to sponsor him if you can prove you are still partners and only separated because of his mental health issues. Having a child together might help, but I would suggest a good agent, it won't be easy, and you will have to prove how you are sustaining the relationship whilst in different countries. There are several agents who post on here that might be able to give you an idea.

ali
He will need to also declare his health issues and they may ask for a specialist report (as they would with major illness).
Quoll
Definitely talk to an agent - not living together and divorce is going to be an issue when trying to prove your relationship, just having kids together isn't going to cut it unfortunately. Then there is his mental health issue which is worth running past one of the medical specialist agents - George Lombard or Peter Bollard are the two most recommended for this. Psychology is potentially an issue depending on his skills and experience, there are more psychologists to the square inch in Australia than any other Western country I suspect; it's the University option of many and to get registration is a Labour of Hercules. I do wonder how long it will be on the skills list, there certainly isn't a shortage of them. Edited July 14, 2017 by Quoll
