JBJB
HEY GUYS! A simple 189 visa application, although I have complicated history. I am dubious about solicitors for this advice, as I have had bad experiences in other areas, with Solicitors taking money and not specifically helping me with my questions VETASSESS / TRA claim to need 4 years experience. Correct? Summary - Qualified Mechanic + Technician - BTEC national Diploma Work History within last 5 years (mechanic) - NOT MUCH <12 months (gapped history due to travelling) Work History over 5 years ago - 3 years ~ 1 company has dissolved, no reference available. the other company I can get references. (payslips, didn't keep them from 7 years ago). HELP ? Work experience - 10+ years of hands on, full experience. Complex builds, you name it. The assessment itself will be easy. I've been located in Australia 2 years, on WHV 1+2 - Currently in Sydney So, I can still gain over 60 points as I have the qualification. However is this 60 points on my current qualification OR Australian equivalent. Because it seems i cannot get the current one converted due to proof, UNLESS it is at the VETASSESS assessors discretion, depending on my knowledge and proof of professionalism + experience via practical examination? Any solicitors that would be able to help me, please send me their details. Thanks Edited July 9, 2017 by JBJB
VERYSTORMY
IT isn't a solicitor you need to speak to. These are not the experts on visas. It is a registered migration agent. There are a number of excellent ones who post on the forum regularly.

Liam13
including statutory declarations for the info that you can no longer get hold of will be suitable i.e references. as for the experience, that is most probably 4 years after you completed your apprenticeship and im pretty sure you have to have worked in that field for 3 out of the last 5 years mate as a skills assessment/visa requirement cant remember which where are you getting your points from ? VERYSTORMY
I would still recomend an agent - there are good ones. Try Go Matilda. Personally, I think you will currently struggle to pass a skills assessment.
Alby
Techs on the move specialises in that area. I'm with visa consort going through my 189 as Hgv truck technician / diesel mechanic. Got my assessment coming up but I've heard it's like apprenticeship questions like showing pictures saying what's this and that and what's causes voltage drop. Also you have to do an IELTS test aswell and get marks out of 7 for general questions. I have links to test questions also if you need.
