I'm not naive at all. I read you mate. I remember the Cardinal Pell stuff.

Yes he was acquitted by the High Court who found a huge miscarriage of justice. Do you remember that bit?

Yes thanks.

However I'm asking what you think.  How do you suggest I research that, apart from asking you?

Back to your original comment; you were surprised at the amount of coverage they'd given his death considering he was a convicted child sex offender. The latter doesn't negate his 60 years in entertainment prior to his conviction, so it would've been unfair if that's all the media focused on, although clearly some newspapers did just that. If you were not of an age to remember to his work then you might form your opinion of him based solely on his wrongdoings, which doesn't paint the whole picture.

Dunno, but also featured heavily in the news article, along with everything else pre arrest, then 3 secs about his kiddy fiddling - very weird reporting 🤷‍♂️

I've heard it mentioned that The Queen preferred Rolf Harris's version of her portrait  rather than the official version. No doubt he was a very talented artist.

Perhaps didn't realise the seriousness of what he may have done back in the 70s and 80s. I don't know the details.

I always thought it was strange that Bill Wyman never seemed to suffer any consequences for what he did.

I think in those highly sexualised decades mentioned a lot went down in that sense. We just never, or seldom heard about it.

We were having exactly the same conversation at a party a few weeks back regarding how Bill Wyman got away with it. Seems like an open and shut case!

I think Mandy Smith would not press any charges against him.

There were far more than Bill Wyman shagging under age girls but the difference was the girls threw themselves at the big name rock starts.  Doesn't make it right though.

I think that was probably the case, but then she wouldn't need to if there was sufficient evidence against him.

She married Bill when she was 18.  She looks at least 10 years older than that in the wedding photo.

I'm not justifying for a moment what any of these guys have done. It was disgusting and a horrendous abuse of their celebrity status, but the Bill Wyman / Mandy Smith scenario is completely different to what Jimmy Savile did, although technically they would both fall under the umbrella of 'child sex offenders'. The Rolf Harris case rested mainly on the relationship he had with the daughter of a family friend, which started when she was 13 and continued until she was 19. There were other groping incidents too. To quote Donald Trump on Jeffery Epstein, "He liked them young", although he clearly wasn't engineering situations for the systematic abuse of children, like Epstein and Savile did.

I refer you to my previous reply:

Why do you think radio stations no longer play Gary Glitter tunes?

Why do you think there aren't old reruns of Jim'll Fix It on the telly?

Why do you think there are no exhibitions of Hitler's watercolours?

But Rolf Harris different?

One of Glitter's songs was used in the movie Joker.

Gary Glitter is still played regularly at football games, and in the movies.

Love this still.

You DO still here Gary Glitter songs played on the radio.

Jim'll Fix was absolutely dire the first time around, so why would there be any reruns? - it's hardly classic TV.

And as for Hitler's watercolours, they're still in big demand...

Good point, well made. However it's not on steady rotation on the radio like it used to be.

My point is that these people didn't run a red light or shoplift.  When you commit a crime as serious as this, there are consequences.  One of those is that the previous behaviour/actions get overridden by the seriousness of the crime.

The trouble is the woke mob want to cancel everyone these days who dare to disagree with them

Now it is not just Nazi war criminals and paedophiles being cancelled. People are being cancelled for their opinions expressed years ago. Sharon Osbourne was even cancelled for supporting Piers Morgan in his criticism of Meghan Markle.

Sounds to me like that's a separate topic.
