Bighenry
We lodged an application for a 143 contributory parent visa 18 months ago. The 457 visa we are on expires in October and under the new changes we are unable to able for a further 457. Would we be able to apply for a bridging visa from the 457 whilst the 143 is processed. I believe the processing time for a 143 is currently 36 months , not the 18 months to 2 years estimated when we lodged . Are there any other options we have not considered. Many thanks. MaggieMay24
You don't apply for bridging visas, they are granted automatically when you lodge a valid application for an onshore visa while holding another visa. The 143 doesn't come with a bridging visa as it's considered and offshore visa whether you're in Australia at the time of application or not. I'd suggest you speak with a migration agent to get an assessment of your options.
