conordaly Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 I've recently been offered a job in Sydney which I accepted, and will be leaving my current 457 sponsored job in Melbourne. I was wondering if anyone had any idea of what forms/process I need to complete to do so. My new employer seems hesitant to get a migration agent due to the expense involved. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I can't find much info online myself. Cheers, Conor Sent using Poms in Oz mobile app
MaggieMay24 Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 You don't need to do anything, but the new employer must submit a nomination application to transfer the nomination over to them. Until their nomination is approved, you cannot start working for them so I would definitely not resign until this is finalised. Are they already an approved business sponsor? Have they sponsored people previously? Do the recently announced changes in 457 visas and proposed changes to 186 visas affect you?

My job is still on the short term skill list so I don't think the changes will affect me. Do you know how long a process like this normally takes?Sent using Poms in Oz mobile app
MaggieMay24 Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 AFAIK, the processing takes 2-3 months although at the moment, I'm not sure if the changes have slowed things down for DIBP as they become familiar with new requirements.
