kitesurfer Posted April 22, 2017 Posted April 22, 2017 We have been a PR for the last five years and are half way through filling out all the forms for citizenship, when i noticed the visa has expired .do i need to get another visa to carry on with the process .?
Mike@Bonbeach Posted April 22, 2017 Posted April 22, 2017 I would say no. Your visa expiring just means you cannot re enter Australia should you go offshore for any reason. PR means permanent residency, Mike

It's only the 'travel' part of the visa that expires - were you to go on holiday/leave the country and don't have citizenship then you would have to apply for a resident return visa. Once you have the citizenship ceremony and become a citizen - then your PR visa is cancelled
Guest Posted April 22, 2017 Posted April 22, 2017 What Ali said. If you want to leave Aus for a holiday before your citizenship is all done then you need an RRV (applied for in advance and granted before you depart Aus) to do so. Your actual visa is still valid, just the travel part expires and needs an RRV.
