Partner Visa: children with NZ/British citizenship question!

Hi there,

We are thinking about moving back to Sydney after living in the UK for the last 11 years. I am English and my husband has British, Australian (by decent) and New Zealand citizenship.
We also have two children who have British and New Zealand (by decent) citizenship

I just wondered if anyone else has been in a similar situation with their children having NZ/British citizenship looking to move to Australia and if so, how did you enter Australia? Was it on their New Zealand passports or did you apply for them through their British citizenship when you lodged your visa application?

Also, in regards to schooling, does anyone know if our girls went in on their New Zealand passports, would we have to pay for schooling, or because my husband is an Australian citizen, would it be free?

Thanks in advance!

Have you read all the info on the Aus gov website about NZ citizens, visas and rights etc in Aus?

Might be a good starting point.

I'm honestly not sure what the implications are if you are not all on NZ passports and/or what other paperwork that may entail or if it will matter at all even. Or if it may be better to look at a visa for you all under your UK passports with your partner as the Aus sponsor. I think as an Aus citizen by descent your partner can sponsor you and your children for an Australian visa.

Were your children born when your husband was a citizen by descent? Had he lived in Australia for 4 years before their birth perchance because citizens by descent can pass down citizenship (of Australia) if the had been resident for a period before the kids come along. I think it is 4 yrs but could be 5.

Then you would need a spouse visa
