Katie84 Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 Hi everyone- I'm a new mum living in Harrington Park. I have a baby girl of 9 weeks in my life which is amazing but I don't know anyone in the area! Im originally from the UK, moved over to NSW 4 years ago but new to the Macarthur area. My husband works so I feel like I'm a bit isolated since i've been on mat leave. Looking to meet some other mums to catch up with and just go for a coffee or a walk
Guest The Pom Queen Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 Hi @Katie84 welcome to the forum. Unfortunately we are in Queensland but please hang around on here as I've made lots of virtual friends through the forum and have managed to meet them overtime and form a very strong bond. I've gained myself a dad and a big bossy sister. Congratulations on the little one, you must be finding it tough with such a little one. Sleepless nights and not being able to escape the house. Is this your first child? I have 3, thankfully the youngest is now 16 so grown up, although they will always be my baby. I don't know where about you are but I use to get down to NSW a lot before the wheelchair, maybe one day we can arrange to catch up.
Katie84 Posted April 18, 2017 Author Posted April 18, 2017 Hi- @The Pom Queen Thanks for the reply! Thats a shame that you are so far away. Hopefully there will be some NSW new mums on here! It seems like you've made some good friends here The little one is having a biiiiig sleep though the night atm so I am enjoying that for sure. I'm counting my blessings each night she sleeps through! Its my first one yes so each day is a new adventure. I was the last for my parents and I think my mum still thinks of me as the baby too even though I am 32 now
Katie84 Posted April 18, 2017 Author Posted April 18, 2017 Unfortunately not. I had my mum and sister stay with us for 3 weeks when my baby was a couple of weeks old then my husbands family have just left. They are all still living in the UK.

I'm not in Australia (moving soon) however not to NSW. While you wait for people on here to hopefully get in touch are there any coffee mornings/groups etc.. you could pop along to in the meantime? We found this really helpful even just to get out of the house for 30 minutes - such an achievement! :-) I had a quick search and found this on a website http://www.camdenkids.com.au/playgroups Play & Learn A free fun group for under school aged kids and their parents, grandparents or carers. An activity of Gregory Hills Anglican Church. Address: Unit 1/10 Bluett Drive Smeaton Grange Time: Mondays 10:00am -11:30am during school terms Phone: Lara 0423 777 651 or Monica 0431 043 642 Not sure if still 'live' but maybe worth a shot? As PomQueen says do stick around in the meantime, lots of chat on here - and at all different hours too - we know babie's have no idea partying at 4am is not cool! ;-)

That's a shame although how wonderful that they got to spend some quality time with you and the little one. I hope it allowed you to get some well deserved rest. Its hard saying goodbye again unless you have the mother/mother in law from hell.

NickyNook Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 Maternity hospitals here usually have a system where they link up new Mums into Mother's groups for mutual support. Did the hospital where your baby was born not do this? Failing that, your local Baby Health Centre should be able to help you with information about similar groups in your area.

starlight7 Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 My granddaughter still has regular meetings with her mum's group even though her son is now at school. One of my daughters meets hers a couple of times a year and her youngest is 9- lasting friendships are formed!
Katie84 Posted April 27, 2017 Author Posted April 27, 2017 Thanks @Ozzie the playgroups you suggested are exactly what I was looking for! Yes, I was put in contact with a group from the hospital but this only starts when buub is 3 months old. I was being impatient! @NickyNook I think also I just wanted to post on here in the off chance there were some other mums that were close by that wanted to meet! I've made acouple of good friends on here so I thought it was worth a try
Guest The Pom Queen Posted April 27, 2017 Posted April 27, 2017 Nice to see you again Hun. How is the little one doing?

I hope you've found them fun and also a place for your wee one to socialise (and to talk about the ups and downs!) Was watching One Born Every Minute last night and just reminded me how time flies. We've a nearly 3 year old and I can't believe it when her little character comes out and she talks back.... where did that docile little baby go! They're such awesome little people! All the best xx
