I can remember the Darwin almost as cold...(Extract from BOM)

Darwin shivers through record cold day

Ben Domensino, Wednesday April 12, 2017 - 13:26 EST

Darwin locals have had to layer up like never before during the wet season.

Records tumbled in the Northern Territory's capital city on Tuesday as persistent rain kept a lid on the temperature throughout the day.

Tuesday's maximum temperature of 21.9 degrees was Darwin's lowest on record for the wet season and the third lowest for any time of the year. It was also the coldest day in 49 years.

As if this wasn't enough for a city whose average maximum temperature at this time of year is 33 degrees, it then got even colder in the evening.

The mercury reached a low of 18.0 degrees shortly after 8pm amid the day's final drops of rain. This was Darwin's lowest temperature recorded during April for 69 years.

Cheers, Bobj.

  • 2 weeks later...

I remember the aircon breaking down in the britz campervan while in Darwin for a couple of weeks while eldest did his work experience at the Naval base there. Couldn't tolerate it at all, had to wake the manager up late at night on the campsite and book a cabin with aircon. The heat and humidity was overwhelming.
