Recommended Posts

Hi,

Im hoping someone can help me understand how the CSOL list!?

Im from the uk with the dream to move down under, however my occupation (horse trainer) is only on CSOL list what does this mean? Is it still possible to eventually get permanent residency?

Has anyone gained residency with a job on CSOL list?

Hi Mel, the occupations listed in CSOL are normally not found in SOL (Skilled Occupation List). CSOL are normally used for applicants (onshore/offshore) in the regional areas of Australia. You need to have your qualification assessed by the respective body and gain a positive result. A positive result means that you can use your qualification for your application. If your occupation is not listed in CSOL, I am not sure what other ways you can apply to gain residency. Keep your hopes high, there's always a way.

If your occupation is on the CSOL, then you need to look at either the state-sponsored or employer-sponsored visas.  There are temporary and permanent visas under both state-sponsored and employer-sponsored categories.  A lot of people migrate under these.  I arrived on a temporary 457 employer-sponsored visa and 2 years later my employer sponsored my 186 PR visa.  Getting employer sponsorship can be very difficult if you aren't already in Australia or don't have unique skills that can't easily be found in Australia already, but it is possible.

Yes, many people get Permanent Residency with occupations on the CSOL list.

You will need to do some research or consult with a Registered Agent for an assessment.

You can start by researching subclasses 190, 489, 186, 187 and 457 as these may be relevant to your situation.

I understand that you are trying to assist but your answers are incorrect.

The CSOL is not associated with Regional Areas.

The CSOL is relevant to many different and diverse visas including state sponsored, ENS, Graduate Skilled, 457 and even training visas, none of which are regional..

A Skills assessment is not a mandatory requirement for all visa subclasses to which the CSOL relates, such as the 457.

My occupation was on the CSOL and I got PR with an employer who was looking to fill positions under a Labour agreement. My qualification had already been deemed equivalent by the Australian employer but that was back in 2009. A horse trainer is a specialist job and the same skill will be used in the same way in Australia I would imagine. You need to find an employer to sponsor you.

I might be wrong, but my occupation is also in CSOL and I am employer sponsored (visa 186). Initially, I applied for state sponsorship which I didn't qualify. I spoke to my employer and they sponsored me under the 186visa. I am not on work visa as I am a NZ citizen. Check other options, but if your occupation is not listed in CSOL, it may be difficult for you to pursue your application.
