Engineering Technologist Guidance

Good morning all.

I have recently been classified by Engineers Australia as an Engineering Technologist and have seen that the occupation ceiling has been met this financial year 2016/2017.

I have been looking into putting in an EOI for state sponsorship to 190 to Vic or perhaps NSW as they are currently on the COSL list. The question I have which im struggling to find a reasonable answer is that as the occupation for an Independent 189 route point score was at 65, I am currently sitting at a total of 60 points ( 55+5 from State), could I still be picked up to be invited? 

Apologies if this has been asked in other posts but wanted to find out from other engineering technologists if they have been invited with the same points. My agent advised me that it could take up to 2 to 8 months before being selected and or in the new financial year starting in July 2017 this may drop back to 60 points.

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

The Other Engineering Professionals categories are now closed, but If there are another 1000 places again in July 2017 and the government again pro rata it again, there should be 40 invitations per round instead of 28.

An EOI lodged at 65 points today should take around 8-12 months under current policy.

60 point applications will take for ever the way things are.

Thanks for the response Richard. Well did not realise that it takes longer, even having 65 points. So in other words having only 60 points as it currently stands will take an awful long time but can change in the new financial year.

With only 60 points, it won't be happening with any points based route.
