Time in relationship

How long must you be in a relationship to include your partner on a skilled visa?

I am pretty sure you would have proove your in a De Facto relationship. So having joint bank accounts, mortgage, utility bills etc is probably more important then the length of the relationship. We had been together over 10 years and had 2 children but due to not being married needed to provide evidence we were de facto.

Normally they require at a minimum 12 months evidence. Joint bank accounts, bills in both names etc.  You can also ask family and friends to provide Stat Decs to state that you are in a continuing relationship.    I did this for my son's best mate who was in a long term relationship with his girlfriend from Europe.   They had been "together" for over 3 years but the actual time they spent together was fragmented because he is Australian and she was not.   She spent a lot of time in Australia but after her working holiday visa expired she could not work here, so went back to Europe to work to save to come back to Oz.  He then went over to Europe to spend as much time as he could with her.   she came back on long term visitors visa etc.   On advice from their Migration Agent, they set up a joint account in Australia and the lease on his apartment was in both names.   Members of both families and friends of both of them submitted Stat Decs with their visa application for her visa. She was finally granted one but not before an employee from the Dept of Immigration rocked up at the house they had bought together, to check out if they were really in an ongoing relationship.   This person even went through their laundry basket to ensure that they were putting all their laundry together (think undies!), even though it was so evident that they had purchased a house together and photos and memorabilia from them both were scattered around the house and the only bedroom habitable (because they were mid renovation) was the main bedroom!   I was furious on their behalf, but they just went along with it.   She is now a PR and can get citizenship in 2 years, they are very happily married, and I have scored another gorgeous surrogate daughter.
