I just heard from my agent that immigration has requested confirmation from my employer of roel availability for coming 2 years. The nomination was approved over 2 years ago so makes sense they need this.

Our agent advised this usually is indicative of a decision when confirmation is received. Has anyone had this request and how long before you received a decision?

It's mean your PR going to be grant soon, may be tomorrow.

Hi - has anyone had any luck contacting Immigration for an update on their visa? We're now way outside of the normal "five to six months" processing time -- we applied for a 186 (offshore) in April and haven't heard anything. Is there anything we can do? Immigration lawyer is completely useless, unfortunately.

You can't blame the lawyer - what do you expect him to do?  Unless you are in a priority occupation, offshore visas are pretty much at a standstill due to Covid.

@elwoodthedog to add to this, I've also heard from more than one source that Immigration typically won't look into case delays, unless it's passed double the "expected wait".

So if the expected delay is 5-6 months, they won't bother looking into it until it's at least 10-12 months old - and even then, it's unlikely anything will happen from there. There are just so many circumstances - you can never be sure. It's all a waiting game 😐

Published processing time for a 186 is now 5 to 9 months, with many application taking longer than this.

Be mindful that the Department has stated in writing that "application status enquiries and priority processing requests will NOT receive a response".

Agree

@Marisawright @Raul Senise

What would you suggest would be the best way on -

how to reach immigration dept if onshore priority list occupation application hasn’t received any comms from department in 2 months ?

I am assuming , generally the wait time for PMSOL candidates is roughly a month.

But you're not on the priority list, are you?

Did you get your medical and police clearance twice.

Request was for my partners visa confirmation and copy of passport.

As stated above, requested on 23rd and responded 28th - so 5 day turnaround.

Yes i believe my company nomination has been approved.

Yup, the original ones were over 12 months old. I applied in may 2018!

Thanks for your reply, my medical and AFP has been expired from December 2020. Can you please explain how it works. Should I wait for the request from immigration or get it done before they ask.

Thanks

@restaurant.manager as mentioned, "I've also heard from more than one source" - one of which was when I was waiting and called in - the Immigration consultant told me that's "typically how they base priority". It's possible he was referring to his own "priority", however, as mentioned, not many people (including me) really know how they work.

Hi All

I'm new to this forum but sharing my timeline and progress.

Visa application category - 186 (Direct Entry) - Accountant (General)

Applicants - 1+1

Nomination applied by company - 31 October 2020

Visa application filled - 9 November 2020 (didn't wait for approval to come through)

Medical - 11 November 2020 (again didn't wait for case officer, just proactively got this done)

All other documents like local and internal police check has been provided.

Nomination status last I heard was - AWAITING APPROVAL

Visa status - APPLICATION RECEIVED

Any clue on what "AWAITING APPROVAL" means for Nomination? does it mean it's at an advanced stage or no idea?

Hi,

I am working as a software engineer, and have three years of post-qualification experience and my employer is willing to sponsor me for 186 direct entry.

My question is, is the 60k plus super salary enough as a software engineer to satisfy the Australian Market Salary rate?

I have the same question. Can someone please answer?

Who told you that the status was "AWAITING APPROVAL" as there is no such message on the ImmiAccount.

I checked with the company HR who checked the Immi account and said this. This is the status of the Nomination application not the visa application

Thanks

You can’t go for Medicals without them requesting them. But no harm in preempting the afp and redoing that
