In Dec and Jan usually quite a less number of application get processed hence we will have to see the trend in Feb next year. Processing time looks better just because they are processing new files quicker and that shows a better average.

Hi guys, I dont know if this question has been posted before or not, but there seems to be a lot of confusion and misinformation about it, so I hope someone who applied and got granted 186 DE can answer my question.

What do the "3 years full time work experience" stand for? How is it calculated? Does it count experience before qualification? Does it count part-time contract experience? Does it count casual employment but doing full time hours? If anyone has a link to the legislation please post it, really appreciate it.

from your view, will that affect my processing time? I mean I applied as shore if I go out to Australia and updated my overseas address, will I become an offshore application?

Hi everyone,

I'm new member here. I found this forum is extremely helpful for us who are chasing the PR in Australia, for years.

In July, my company decided to sponsor me and with the help of MA, I applied for 186 nomination as a Multimedia Specialist. However, I haven't got any update since then, nearly 5.5 months. Is it too slow? Or it is normal as my occupation is not in the propriety list? I haven't applied for the 186 application yet, should I ask my MA to apply the main application now, or just waiting to get the nomination update?

I appreciate every input/advice.

Hi all, after a very very long road I think we’re coming to the end!! Our process went to VACCU due to misinformation provided by a previous agent. We have had a new much improved angent since January. 
 

Our application passed character assessment in July and we have now been requested to retake medical tests (original ones out of date) 

From experience of friends etc the Health Check Request seems a positive sign that this is the last hurdle? Is there any consensus on this? 

Sadly like the rest of our process this part is far from straightforward as there are no appointments locally till end of Feb! Unreal! By then I will have a newborn son. So will need to get him added to the medical, get him registered and a UK passport in order to add him to the application! 
 

If only there wasn’t a huge 3 month wait I think we’d have PR and he’d be austomatically Aussie. Typical. 
 

does anyone have experience of this?

Welcome @Steve.weee and congratulations on the start of your journey.

Unfortunately, there is no direct answer to your questions(s). What I would suggest doing is like the most of us, going through previous pages of posts to get a feel of how things are tracking at the current stage. 

In my opinion, for your occupation - your application is still "fresh" and I would hope for the best but expect the worst in terms of timelines. One good thing is knowing that immigration WILL get to your case, it's just a matter of when (mine took 9 months before someone even opened it.). I've seen cases where an application (including full visa) finalized within 1 month, and others that have waited well over 25 months.

@TooGoodToBeTrue I was in a similar situation (child being born). 

My child was to be both and we were waiting on the finalization of the visa. If we didn't get it in time, we would have to do ALL the work of getting birth certificates / passports etc. - from another country (South Africa) - which, lets be honest, has a failed public system at best. 

Long story short, our visa never came in time and hence, when my daughter was born (in Australia), we had to frantically get all the paperwork in place for the visa. 

In hind sight, we actually had ample time as the visa was only complete when my daughter was ±1 year old. Still, it's not fun! 

Personally, if you have to wait 3 months before you can do your medicals - I'd start planning the process of getting started with the paperwork, unless you go to ta different state / medical center (which I would strongly consider), it's unlikely things will change. 

PS - We received notice of a medical for my son (which we took as great news), only to then get a "request for more information" about 35 days later (my wife had only completed 9 years of the required 10 years of previous addresses) - this should have been picked up by the first Immigration agent but wasn't.

Nomination: 30 Nov 20 6:00pm AEDT
Approval: 3 Dec 20 8:00am AEDT
PR Submitted: 3 Dec 20 11:30pm AEDT
Medical: 4 Dec 20 2:30pm AEDT
Medical Cleared: 7 Dec 20 Afternoon AEDT
Grant: Waiting

It was quite lucky that I kept refreshing Bupa Medical page so I could book the earliest one day later after submitted PR application. However, I needed to travel to Parramatta. Anyway, totally understand that it is quite challenging for them during COVID time to allocate timeslots for applicants.

Will update your guy soon at the time I get a golden email.

@Bob Y it's 2 years of working for the same company, hence, the date of VISA grant is irrelevant. So 2 years (full time) working for the same company. A couple notes here though: 

1. This is more a general rule of curtesy than a law (although, if you leave early and the company feels you only joined them to gain a visa, they could open a case with Immigration about it). 

2. If you need / want to leave after the visa is granted, I suggest you speak with the employer. As long as it's agreed mutually and with best intensions, there'll be no problem. Immigration would only investigate if there's a complaint made from the company.  

3. Any "unpaid" leave is not counted towards "full time employment".

I beg to differ. The 2-year obligation starts when the 186 is granted, although, as you said, it is not a visa condition but a "moral" obligation.

@Laura Zorzi Thank you for that, you're correct - I took that question in the incorrect context. You're right - the 2 years starts from when the visa is granted

I'm just wondering when does a grant email normally deliver? Is there any particular time like 11.00 am or early morning, etc ??

I know it takes time but I'm just very excited and login to ImmiAccount twice a day - morning and afternoon.

I used to force myself to only login twice a day (morning and afternoon), however, it gets really tough not checking for all those hours... 

I've never seen any consistency from the timestamp of the emails, so don't think that is actually a thing I'm afraid. Good luck!
