Hi. Have you had further documentation requested?

Yes, I had a request for further information early May which put us under "Initial Assessment".  We uploaded additional documentation early June and are now under "Further Assessment".

Hi Guys,

I have applied 186 in 263111 one year back in jun 2018. I have received an autogenerated in the first week of April 2019 saying your application will be assigned to a CO soon and its been almost 3 months now no further update is received.

Can anyone just guide me how long does a CO take to take their decision? I am really confused at this moment should I have gone for PTE to apply 189 as the 186 visa timelines are really killing me. Please advise

Hi Saund,

No one can give you a answer here on how long a CO takes to make their decision.  It depends on a number of factors, nomination, visa application, how complex it is - other applicants/dependents on your application etc... However in most cases once your application is picked up by CO they will assess, if they require any additional information (not always requested) then you usually have 28 days to provide requested info.  Then it can be a waiting game to when it is picked up again to assess.  Other cases are lucky where straight grant no further information is needed.

If you can give us an idea of your timeline - usually very useful to create a signature including the same 🙂 - instructions in my signature

So frustrating to wait ,can see others get approval after short period, even we have updated all documents up to date.it seems  cook applications are not very concerned.is there anyway of checking or fast track the application ....

In the period i was waiting for my 186 TRT the applications did appear to be looked at in waves relating to occupation. Months might go by without a single cook appearing to be granted, then BOOM - a month of all the cooks being granted. It's really difficult and frustrating, but that's just the joys of visas i'm afraid!

Hi guys, im so nervous right now. Need some advises.

Restaurant manager

applied 13/12 2018

nomination approved 24/5/2019

requested documents: AFD and qualifications for dependent. And submitted 4/6/2019.

Do you know how long it will be final results? This time is likely 100 years waiting for me that is killing me now. Please.

Same situation Antonie, the wait kills your nerves. I've got sick 2 times since we provided all the docs and turned to further assessment. The nerves are terrible, even we shouldn't have any reason to get it denied. But it is scary, somehow.

@Antonie Unfortunately, this question is way to broad, open and has too many factors involved for anyone to comment on accurately
- In short, no one knows for sure (it's on a case per case basis).

However, based off previous applications and "typical" response times, I can tell you that, on average - the turn around time for these requests (although stated 28 days), is around 30-40 days. With that being said, I've seen a case being responded to / updated within 1 day of response and conversely - another that's taken close to 2 years.

My best suggestion is, to hold on tight and hope for the best! Good luck.

Hello everyone

I’ve been reading along for a little while. I lodged my nomination on 26 June 2018 and I decided to wait with my visa - which I REALLY regret now! They requested more info 16 Feb 2019 which we supplied within the 28 days. The nomination was approved on 12 April 2019 by NSW PSE.

I then had to resit my English test and I lodged the visa application on 20 May 2019, medicals were cleared on 31 May.

I’m a bit concerned they might take another 10 months to finalise the visa.

My occupation is Horse Trainer which I couldn’t find in the spreadsheet at all. I don’t think cases can be compared but some indication of another horse trainer would have been nice 😅

Hi Muppett,

My situation is very similar to you - I have lodged nomination and visa separately.

Nomination lodged Oct 2018

Visa lodged April 2019

Nomination approved 10th May 2019.

CO asked for AFP & Medical check 15th May 2019

All requested docs submitted 3rd June

Status with "Further Assessment". I'm a Marketing Specialist.

Thanks Michelle!

It seemed to me that if you lodge your visa before your nomination gets approved you are still going to be processed similar to the people that have lodged both at the same time. But when people waited till after the nomination was approved they had to wait for another 9-10 months for their visa from what I’ve seen in the spreadsheet.

Good luck!! I hope you get your approval soon 😊🤞🏻
