Last week I was a bit depressed about the whole waiting experience, and made a goal for myself - do not check or think about all this visa related staff over Dec and Xmas. Decided to let it go and not to worry. Then good news came instantly )

keep us posted. All the best.

Hi @Bips22, My MA confirmed that, grandfathering arrangements will apply in my case as I held a 457 before Apr 2017 and occupation list won't apply in my case. So, still hoping for good news.

Hello All,

I was wondering if there were any other copywriters out there waiting for their 186 visa? Or any who have recently got theirs approved?

I lodged in February and anxiously waiting for the good news (all being well!).

Not a copy writer, but a technical writer (different ANZCO). Also applied in Feb 2018.

Friends! Got our PR yesterday!

  • Advertising Specialist
  • HR, 2 applicants, Transition, NSW
  • Timeline!
    • 20 Feb: Application lodged
    • 31 Oct: s56 Request for More Information (updated AFP clearance)
      • Please note the AFP certificates provided with your application, with the three months extension allowed, expired on 04/10/2018. Each applicant is required to provide a new AFP certificate - Complete Disclosure.
    • 07 Nov: Additional documents provided
    • 10 Dec: Granted
  • Learnings: This would have cleared through faster had the documentation been updated. If any of your docs are due to expire, get it updated before your file is opened.

All the best to all waiting!

Hey There

Just wondered if anyone had any advice on reapplying for police checks or medicals.

I got my police checks and medicals approved in September 2017 - how long do they take to expire? Should I apply for new ones now and upload or just wait to see if they need them?

Any advice would be great!

PCC's typically last for 12 months. My suggestion would be to always get updated documents when they are nearing /passed expiry.

The last thing you want (or me) would be for the CO to review your case and put everything on hold, just for another PCC / medical.

You do typically get a few months (at max) leniency, depending on the CO - but I'm of the  opinion of why risk it.
