Milkyway
Hi Everyone, Employer lodged nomination December 2017 (TRT 457 to 186), I lodged visa July 2018 , will they start the visa processing time (currently 12-13 months) from the nomination date or visa application date ? Thanks

Thanks I think immi follow your lodgement date they might process the nomination first and then visa with the gap which means you might get your final visa later or following the global processing time. One of us here had visa granted after 8 months of nomination approved. Total processing time gets nearly double. You should have lodged both at the same time around. Good luck ! Thanks @Milkyway Forgive the ignorance here, but I dont uderstand why you have lodged 2 items (nomination and visa), what is the difference? My understanding is that you lodge the visa (457 - 186 TRT), get your bridging visa's and wait. Am I missing something? @boo-yaa tagging you, in case you know as well

The Nomination & the Visa. Normally your MA will lodge both at the same time so that's why you probably wouldn't have noticed. A nomination is the process which determines: - that your occupation is relevant to the position to be filled - the skills and experience needed for the position ETC A two-step visa process is involved; a nomination by an approved Australian employer and a visa application by the qualified worker. Milkyway
@hex The employer wanted to do the 482 even though I said were probably get bridging after 186 application. I couldn't understand the logic either but here I am waiting now. I do wonder what will happen if the 482 gets approved what happens to the bridging visa? So then does that mean that I should expect a result on both (separately) or one overall result? And yes, I think the reason I didn't notice was because mine would have been lodged at the same time, also bridging Visa's received immediately. Would be good FYI if someone could confirm this though.

Two separate decisions however they could be made together at the same time.If all your documents are correct, up-to date and IMMI are satisfied and don't request any additional supporting documents. As you will see in this forum, some people will have their Nomination approved and then additional docs will then be requested in order for the Visa to be accepted. Like police clearances/ medical etc. For example, see @KazBaker above - his nomination has been approved and he is now waiting on the Visa. I87 de - Off shore - LR - Hairdresser - After 22 months of waiting have just received nomination refusal. Reason given was that employer would not be able to pay salary - what a pathetic and feeble excuse. Will not be appealing as it will be a waste of more time and valuable money. The whole immigration process is flawed with stupid reasons given to most refusals. To all of you waiting best of luck and hope your dreams come true

No grant but at least some progress: both sponsor and we got an RFI today, status changed from received to initial assessment. The facts: Nomination and visa logged 25th August 2017 DE, Marketing Specialist, LR, 2 applicants Additional documents requested 10th May 2018. I do not know what they requested from the sponsor. For us it was the travel history (our immigration lawyer forgot to upload the attachment we had provided) and some clarification on addresses in the past. So looks like they are moving forward assessing applications from August. Fingers crossed and good luck to all! Hi all, writing this with little red eyes...our visa got granted this morning! After the RFI (see above) the nomination got approved on July 4th, then another almost 5 weeks of waiting until the visa grant this morning. Can't believe the wait is over and guess it will take some while to realize it. Thinking of all of you still waiting, fingers crossed the wait and insecurity will be over for you very soon!
