Johndoe 13,043 Posted March 14, 2017 (edited) Jade packed it in at Australia Zoo and took up a 10wk internship at the World Bird Sanctuary at St Louis Missouri. They were fantastic with her and she had a chance of a green card and employment but was missing her German Shepherd, so came home. She has over 56000 followers on instagram and is making a few bob from advertisers and her jewellery sales so has time to think about her next adventure with a raptor centre showing interest in her already in Oz. I think she may end up down in Smellbum :-) Some of the birds and others she worked with out there. I'll have to stick to admiring the work they do. I'll have to stick to admiring the work they do. Most don't get paid at all mate. Some zoos run as high as 70% volunteers and placement pracs from Uni courses such as Zoology and Conservation. Yeah, she'd be the one showing the wedge tailed eagle and the condor u8nless she was day off. She loved doing the shows but prefers the hands on work of rehabbing which is why she's left. Much more hands on work out there actually helping the birds recover, as opposed to showing them off. Thanks for showing what wonderful opportunities there are for young people out there. We always hear far too much doom and gloom IMO. All that negativity must rub off on our young ones, making them give up before even trying. Positive role models are worth their weight on gold.
