Daveakaginge 119 Posted March 12, 2017 Western Australia will regret this decision in two/three years, all Labour do, is promise the poorer people the world, then borrow to pay for it. Look at the debt left in the UK, so we had to have austerity, they done the same in Australia, and guess what, austerity. People have very short memory's! Life is about dreams, so believe, and make the dreams a reality.

srg73 100 Posted March 12, 2017 WA, look at QLD, we are sinking in debt, public services failing and unions becoming stronger by the day. It is very easy for Labour to sell a dream however it is always nearly impossible to deliver it. They will spend to try and keep people happy and leave the state in a further mess. Best of luck. 1 Thames Migration appointed Jun 12 and 189 Visa granted Jan 13:wink:. Landed Sep 14 and roots being quickly established. Brisbane, what an amazing place with incredible opportunity. Look at the debt left in the UK, so we had to have austerity, they done the same in Australia, and guess what, austerity. People have very short memory's! Here in SA we've had a labour government since forever (or maybe it just seems that way). We also have a budget surplus and the economy in SA is in big trouble. This idea that government debt is bad and a budget surplus is good for the economy is something of a fallacy. Any fool can criticize, condemn, and complain but it takes character and self control to be understanding and forgiving. They should not deliberately compete against industry for scare resources when they can avoid it. The idea of debt as a bad thing is flawed. There is a time to save, and a time to borrow. deryans 62 Posted March 12, 2017 what people seem forget is that competence , foresight and planning is what matters. You could have the best visionary leadership in the world, but if your public service is unable to deliver, depending on how much cash you have you're stuffed. Now, if you have both poor leadership and an incompetent public service, then you're in serious trouble .. and finally if you are unlucky enough to have poor leadership, incompetence in public service and a poor and challenging economy then you're .........basically SA for the last 15 years.... 1 When I was a kid, it seemed like they made something new every day. Some, gadget or idea, like every day was Christmas. But six billion people, just imagine that. And every last one of them trying to have it all…........ benj1980 448 Posted March 12, 2017 To put it simply the majority of people weren't happy with the Libs and so a change was necessary. I'm interested in seeing how Labor perform for me lots of question marks with their pledges. But being relatively new I am also intrigued by it all! northshorepom 2,286 Posted March 12, 2017 exactly right. Governments should spend when money and resources are cheap. Would prefer government to spend in pursuit if structural/strategic development or change, and more to the point when the economy is less strong to boost overall economic demand and especially in the case of infrastructure, develop future multiplier effects. This tends to coincide with when resources are cheap and sometimes money "Do nothing" governments are particularly damaging beyond what is apparent at the time because they build up a backlog of infrastructure development which has to be dealt with outside of these sort of considerations as to when is wise to do it - the imperative to catch up becomes stronger. Which means governments end up having to do it at a time of constrained resources, which usually means inefficiency and higher costs. This is where we are in NSW now, because the state government did nothing for 10 years after the Oympics. Why anyone sees Bob Carr as a good guy is beyond me They should not deliberately compete against industry for scare resources when they can avoid it. The idea of debt as a bad thing is flawed. There is a time to save, and a time to borrow. Agree
Petals 4,259 Posted March 12, 2017 Libs are in with the supposed good times, then labour gets voted in to try and fix the mess that has been made. Que Sera Sera 6,268 Posted March 13, 2017 Well, people were well and truly pi$$ed of with Colin ( Colon) Barnett, and with a deal done with Pauline Hanson it was the nail in the coffin. Loved watching the results coming in and the way Malcolm Turdball has just ignored the result. Mark McGowan seems a thoroughly likeable guy, we will just have to wait and see how it pans out. Glad to see the back of Barnett.

Paul1Perth 5,858 Posted March 13, 2017 Incumbent government gets a kicking when economic times are hard. Why, whod'a thunk it??? Clinton had it right in 1992 Pretty much spot on. The Liberals would have lost anyway but they added to their downfall with Roe 8, Western Power privatisation and the deal with one nation. Those decisions cost them an extra few percent swing. The most interest I've seen in the election has been from my visiting father in law from the UK. Went down the beach for our usual morning of exercise yesterday and no one mentioned the election. My Dad in law asked what people had said and couldn't believe it when I told him. Guess it's just another lot that promise plenty, overspend and don't deliver. As long as the beach and sea are still there and the weather is good no one really cares.
