From a 489 to 887 Residency question

Hi

 

We will be lodging for our residency visa (887) soon and our agent is saying we need to have medicals again.

Does anyone know if this is definitely the case as had them done less than 3 years ago, in the UK. I know things change but wanted to know as its alot of $$$$ to pay out again.

 

Also, don't suppose anyne knows roughly how long this application takes?

Thats one of the question i have as well. On the Border website it says "Do not arrange a health examination until we ask you to."

Hi

 

Applied for 887 on 02/02/2017 online. As us3rOZ says, the website health assessment section says to hold off until they ask. I read somewhere that they may ask if you have travelled out of Australia for more than 4 weeks and also for some specific countries whatever the duration of visit may be.

@us3rOZ - when did you apply? have you been allocated a CO yet?

We called IMMI yesterday, they told us not to do it unless they ask for it.

Medicals are only valid for a year, so I'd imagine your agent is right and knows your case.

Hi, we've just been granted 887 visa from 489.

took exactly 6 months and we didn't need medical.

its a long wait but worth it

Congrats! 

Did both of you (you and your partner had to meet the live and work conditions ? Was anyone of you were a subsequent entrant or both were in the intial app when applied for 489 ?
