michael1234
Hello, I am hoping anyone here could help me with this small query of mine I am currently in Australia on a graduate visa (subclass 485). I plan to apply for 189 visa once I get my skills assessment and invitation (I estimate it will take around 4 months until I actually apply for 189). At the moment, I would like to take up a role (i.e. employment) which is different from my nominated occupation and is in a completely different field. My field is IT and the role is a research assistant in a biological science lab (I would be helping with some IT related things, but mostly it will be other things not related to IT). Later when I apply for 189 visa I will need to list that in the application of course as I'd need to list all employment. My question is whether doing a role like this, which is outside the nominated occupation, can cause a bad impression and affect my chances of getting the visa. The impression I fear it might create is mostly that I do not intend to work in my nominated occupation. Cheers! wrussell
Subclass 189 visa holders are not required to work in their nominated occupation, or at all.
mistryh
Hi, Just looking to submit my EOI for the 189 having completed my first year as a teacher! And finally passed the IELTS on my 3rd attempt..Wahoo! (Phew!) Ermm, as I only have officially one year teaching experience, do I select "Yes" for "Related Employement" even though I will not get points for this. For the rest of the jobs I have done prior I selected no. By selecting yes, on the final summary screen it highlights, English Language, Education and Employment as the categories which will award me points. Question: Does that mean I should select No for related employment for my most recent/current employment this past year from sept16 - now? As I am not eligible for any points through employment. Thanks! H
