Guest VickyMary
Good evening I am a diploma registered nurse, previously registered in Oz but returned to UK, just wondering if anyone in a similar position and have they had any problems re-registering back in Oz, due to changes in the requirements? thanks in advance. Richard Gregan
AHPRA requires all Registered nurses to be degree holders now. It is possible to undertake bridging courses in Australia to meet the requirements, but it's probably cheaper to do it here. When considering upgrading your diploma to a degree, you'll need to ensure your course meets the core criteria stipulated by NMBA, in particular the following: --- The education institution that provided the program of study, and confirmed your qualification, has certified that you have successfully completed an assessment in medication management including: administration of medications (including calculations), pharmacokinetics (the study of the bodily absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion of drugs) and pharmacodynamics (the study of the biochemical and physiological effects of drugs and the mechanisms of their action in the body). As part of the certification, the education institution must provide information that clearly shows the medication management content you completed as part of the program of study. --- More info here: http://www.nursingmidwiferyboard.gov.au/Registration-and-Endorsement/International/Meeting-the-registration-requirements.aspx
sreedo
Unless previously registered prior to 2011. if you only have a PGDip, and held registration under the old register, then you can joing the current AHPRA register without doing the bridging course
