michaelbenson Posted November 16, 2016 Share Posted November 16, 2016 Hi there, Would anyone be able to provide insight into typically how long it can take to process an application for a 457/186 visa from the point of initial submission to receipt of valid visa? I have received an offer of employment from an employer in Sydney but they would need for me to start on the 8th January 2017, I am a little nervous that it will be incredibly ambitious to try and get everything organized in time. Do you think it would be appropriate to head out on a Working Holiday Visa until the application for the 457/186 had been processed? Or would there be some kind of temporary bridging visa that I could hold maybe until the 457/186 visa was successfully issued? Any advice would be much appreciated! Samson Posted November 16, 2016 Share Posted November 16, 2016 A 457 is possible if you lodge the application now, this would need to be done properly so there are no possibilities of them requesting more info and delaying the application. If you are able to obtain a 417 WHV then why not go this route? and then apply for the 457 when you get here... A WHV will be granted winthin a few hours lol.
