jamesw123
Hi, I am looking to obtain my 190 visa, but am wondering about the medical examination, background: When I was a child I had a brain tumour caused by hydrocephalus, this was treated and I have now been in remission for over 12 years, I have to have regular check ups once a year just to check everything is still OK, also my consultant is willing to write a description on my condition and explain the medical history to the medical examiners stating I have been given the "all clear". Anybody have any idea how this would sit with the medical examiners? Or any literature I could consult? Or even anyone out there that has dealt with a similar situation? Thanks, James
ali
When we went for our medicals we were told that for any conditions we should get a letter stating what the condition/illness is/was, any treatment or investigations and the prognosis. Both my son and I had undergone renal investigations. At the medical, I provided a letter from my consultant and my sons consultant paediatrician - we weren't asked for any other information after this. jamesw123
Hi Ali, Thanks for the response, seems like it is down to what is on the consultants report as to how the medical examiner interprets the condition i guess?
rammygirl
More to do with prognosis and potential cost to treat in Australia. For example someone needing a kidney transplant within 5 years would most likely fail but people who have been clear of cancer for over 10 year can pass the medical. jamesw123
Great thanks for the responses guys! I am feeling a lot more confident now after researching further, since I have been in remission for so long and am now considered to be "all clear" with no further treatment or medication required I am assuming I would be considered a relatively low risk/potential expense?
