189 Processing ... the wait begins!

    Recommended Posts

    Hi all,

We have today had our medicals uploaded and no further action needed . We have uploaded our police check certificates and submitted the additional information that was requested by our CO. So now I guess the wait begins for them to get back to us for more info or if we will get our visa granted :err:. Has anyone else submitted and are waiting to hear back? Here's hoping it isn't too longer wait to find out the outcome!

    Hi,

We paid for our visa on Saturday, medicals booked for 27th October. We are going to upload everything else this weekend. Hoping to have visa before New Year, so we can put our house up for sale in January, so we can hopefully move in June 2017. Exciting times! When are you hoping to move ?

    Hi Purplesparkle

Our agent uploaded our medicals and police checks two weeks ago and we too are just waiting to hear now. Hoping our 189 grant comes soon, we have everything crossed!

Definately exciting times, though nervous too! Hope you hear soon X

I too am applying for the subclass 189 visa, having submitted everything including medicals by 1st September.

I emailed the DIBP to let them know I'd uploaded all additional info required. I then by chance looked at my ImmiAccount and realised there was a button that you need to click to confirm that you have uploaded all additional info required. so now my ImmiAccount officially said its being processed since 27th September, which makes me feel I've wasted 3 weeks not having noticed the button sooner once I'd uploaded all the docs.

    Here's to waiting now

    Hi All,

I applied for my Visa on 3rd August, CO asked for Form 80 and Medicals on 15th August and I submitted all of my info on 24th August. Hoping to move in January 2017 in time for the new school year. Seems to be no rhyme or reason to the Visa granting system so fingers crossed we all hear soon.

I'm in the same boat as many of you! I applied for the visa on 7th July and received a request for further information (medicals etc) on the 27th July. Everything uploaded on 24th August and been shown as in progress ever since! I'm checking emails daily and logging in a few times a week just to be sure  I too am hoping to be there in time for the new school year so struggling to be patient!! it will be good to hear when others get their grants to give me hope it's coming soon! Fingers crossed for us all!

    Hi all,

It's great to hear of so many people in the same position as us. Like all of you we are eagerly awaiting that magical e-mail that's going to change our lives!!!

It seems so frustrating that there doesn't seem to be a particular approach to the grants of visa's! We have got so much going on as I'm sure all of you have too! We are currently a few weeks into the process of selling our house, tentatively looking for a rental but can't do anything about that until we exchange contracts on the house! Looking to see what jobs are out there but we're not going to apply until we get our visa granted. Things seem so up in the air and feel like we are constantly waiting on other people! We are just so excited about the future and would love it to start our next adventure sooner rather than later!!

We are hoping to head over to either Queensland or Adelaide. Where is everybody else heading to?

Looking forward to seeing all your updates and staying in touch!

Congratulations Marley24! You must be so relieved (and excited!!) it's good to know they're still granting visas ;-) could I ask a couple of questions? Did you claim work experience (as I've heard that waiting for confirmation of this can slow grants)? And which state was your Company based in? Still keeping my fingers and toes crossed here!

Sometimes you can't predict grant dates. We front loaded medicals and police checks and submitted on 29th Jan, with direct grant on 12th Feb. No form 80, but I had scanned and loaded a lot of supporting documentation ;-)

Good luck everyone...it is worth it...sitting here now having a beer in Brisbane :)

This forum is great. My agent recieved e-mail to say my skills assessment is positive. I was thinking i might do the rest myself and save £1700. Does anyone reccommend this or is it easier to go with an agent? Undecided.

Hey javadxster, I am still waiting (admittedly less patiently than I was...) I have read other threads where people were kept waiting and it seemed to be due, in part, to slow responses from previous employers but as I am not claiming points for work experience I had hoped my application would be more straightforward! My CO is based in the Brisbane office, how about you?!

I am with Brisbane CO as well, I am claiming points for work experience and my work experience was assessed by engineer australia. Not really sure some are getting grant within a week after submitting additional documents requested.

    Hi Monkey1980 and javadxster.

Just wondered if you were both located in UK? That's a long time to wait for you guys. Weird why some people get their grant within a month, others 3 and some others longer, if they are straightforward cases.

Can I ask how you found out where your case officer is located? Thanks

Hi, Im looking for some help regarding moving to Australia.
I’m a gas engineer, qualified to SVQ level 3 in domestic natural gas installation and maintenance. I completed my apprenticeship through a company doing both on site and college work. I’ve never done any plumbing at all, so don’t have any plumbing qualifications etc... this worries me as I’ve seen gas engineers saying they’ve opted to go down the plumbers route for applying as it’s easier?
i’ve been reading a lot of other people’s posts about the difficulties of applying and the steps which you need to go through to finally land in Oz successfully.
I want to move over in the next 3 years with my partner and young son, somewhere in NSW.
I’m aware of the points system, that there is tests to be taken, evidence of work to be given. I just don’t know where to start, any help would be appreciated.

        cheers

        Hi all.
I am desperate for some help please.
        Visa 189 submitted 28.10.17
Last week we finally had communication from a CO. Requesting evidence of employment for me and form 80 for my hustand and myself. Looking through the formal request when it details certifying documents it is very specific in saying that it must be a person who is equivalent to a justice of the peace e.g. notary of public or a migration agent; but all other evidence already submitted was certified by a teacher which was permitted.
I have emailed the GSM twice but I haven't heard anything back.
Does anyone else please have any advice or guidance that you can offer.
A notary public is not only more expensive but also a complicated process as she woild need to contact the source of all documents to certify them (8 years worth of employment in 4 different jobs).
We are 7 days into our 28 a day limit to submit so I am very anxious about trying to get this done ASAP.
        Many thanks

        Hi everyone!
I'm looking to hear other people's experiences with the processing time for the 189 visa. I logged in recently and was gutted to see that it has increased from 5-8 months before Christmas, to 6-10 months now
We have 75 points with my husband as the main applicant, who is an accountant. We submitted our EOI in the summer and quickly received an invitation to apply. We initially submitted our application in on the 5th September 2017 and later received an email asking us to upload our character forms and police checks. We submitted all of the required information on the 4th November 2017 (beware of the button you have to click once you've uploaded your docs, I missed it and only noticed when I logged back in later!)
We have heard nothing since and the wait is agonising. We want to put our house on the market, but don't want to risk selling up without a concrete decision on our visas. Our medicals expire at the end of September and my husband has a 3 month notice period at work, so if we don't have a grant by June, it's game over for a 2018 move
I have heard that sometimes grants are issued with an initial entry date that is only a few weeks away   it would surely be impossible for most people to pack up and leave in that time, especially if you have property to sell... Do we take the risk and sell up without a grant??? We'd need to get the visas by June, how likely is that?
Keen to hear from anyone else who is in the same boat!

        Hi All
My husband and I have decided to start the ball rolling to obtain a 189 visa but we're unsure where/ when to start the process and hoping you all can help with a few queries:
Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced, good migration agent? I've had a quote for £1,800 - is this about the going rate?
Are visa agents able to help with where to go in terms of where the best job prospects are?
I have looked at skillselect and this seems relatively straight forward, is it the application for the actual visa that is more complicated?
I understand the English tests are valid for two years, is that two year to obtain a visa or two years to enter Oz? Hope that makes sense...
We have been discussing whether or not to make the move for years, my biggest fear is not making any friends..  Have people found this is ok once arriving?
        Thanks
        Vicky
