patbret
Hi guys, I'm looking to see if anybody can advise me if I can apply for a 651 visa straight having a 417 WHV. My first year working holiday visa expires on November 28th and I had applied for a 457 visa but this has been declined due to an issue with the nomination from my employer. Before it was declined, I had booked a holiday to New Zealand from November 17th until December 4th. At the moment, my plan is to go on my holiday to New Zealand and apply for an eVisitor (subclass 651) visa when I get there so that I can return to Australia and visit some friends in Melbourne and then return to the UK. Can anyone advise me if it is likely or unlikely that my 651 visa application would be granted?
VERYSTORMY
You can try, but they often won't grant after you have had a year to holiday. Particularly as you have just had a refusal.
Marisawright
As VeryStormy says - Immigration can see that you tried to stay on a 457 and it was refused, so they're going to be suspicious that you want the tourist visa so you can stay illegally.
