Mtjones
I'm looking for a 457 visa. I'm classed as an agricultural fitter but I'm more of a machine operator Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Mtjones
I've been working on a 50,000 acre crop farm in Nyngan NSW the last year and a half. And my visa is nearly out and I love this place to much to leave Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Mtjones
I'm not yet on a 457 but the farm I'm currently trying to do it with is not that good and they slow at starting it up Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
VERYSTORMY
First, are you sure you are eligible for a 457? Don't forget, it is not just about what skills you have, but what actual job you do. The he other issue that can be hard is the criteria for a company to sponsor. Not every company can and businesses like farms can find it hard to qualify. Lastly, if you want to stay in oz, have you considered permanent skilled migration? A 457 is only a temporary visa.

Mtjones
Are you on a working holiday visa? And had that all been with the same company? Yes and my second year runs out on the 18th of this month. No I've been with two different employers and I am trying to get my 457 with the current employer. That's my problem the company I'm with are a sponsor farm but they still haven't signed their side of things. So my application still hasn't been launched. I've done everything I can to this point just waiting on them now Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk You know you can only spend six months with one employer on the WHV don't you? So of your records are going to show you stayed longer it will not bode well for a 457 application. Are you sure that the role is eligible for sponsprship? What occupation will you apply under? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk And the previous employer? You will almost certainly be asked for work history. You need to select an occupation from the occupations list, "agricultural fitter" is not on there.

As I mention agricultural fitter does not exist on the lists. Agricultural engineer is on the lists, in fact it is even on the SOL so why don't you look into skilled migration. What is different about this visa and are there advantages better then the 457 visa? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ok is it harder to get this visa? That does sound a lot better. How would I get sponsored? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

VERYSTORMY
If you go down the skilled migration route using an occupation on the sol, you do not need any sponsor, you don't need an employer, you can work for anyone. You can do anything - even study or change career or not work at all if you can afford to. It it has some hoops to jump through, but overall not much more than a 457 particularly as finding a 457 sponsor can be difficult. I would suggest you get an initial consultation from a registered migration agent - most good ones will do that for free.
