Immigration Agency. Yay or neh?

Hi everyone, my husband and I have been getting all the documents ready for the past 1 year but we have met with many roadblocks. Out of desperation, we are considering the help of an immigration agency. However, we have heard both the negatives and positives of such approach. It would help greatly if anyone could give us any advice regarding if we should or should not go ahead with engaging an agency's help. Here are some of the information for consideration:

(Husband)

- visa 189 state sponsorship for NSW

- 55 points + 5 points from sponsorship

- age 29

- ACS approved

- IELTS 7+ in each section

- BSc and MSc from London Met in Computer Networking

- anzo code 26311-11

- 3 years of experience but after ACS only 1 so not claiming any points from employement

- spouse with IELTS 7+ and Masters

- marriage cert and birth certs

- police checks and medicals will be done once a CO is assigned to the case

- Last year, submitted same docs for 189 but for 6 months no CO was assigned to case

Now the questions are, are we missing some documents that we are not aware of? should we just submit the application in EOI or engage the help of an agency and pay £3000+ for their service?

Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!!

189 is an independent skilled visa..not state sponsored..that's the 190...If u applied for 189 with 55 points that's not going to work. I applied for 189 without an agent just advice on here and other research, had no problems

Hi sorry. I meant the 190.

Can you clarify where yor are in the process.

If you submitted your documents, then from what you have said you must have been successful in obtaining a state sponsorship and have been invited to apply for a visa and you have applied and paid the fees? As it is not possible to submit documents before then.

In which case, I would be more inclined to simply contact immigration and ask where they are with your process as it is taking an unusually long time.

don't tar all agencies with the same brush for starters. If you want to use one find one which is registered with MARA and then read independent reviews on them. Sites like this are full of recommendations of good agents. And where does the figure of £3000 come from? If, as it seems, you have already submitted the visa and just want someone to help follow it up, so ask for a price on that. Most of them will not charge the same as for a full visa application!
