Murph
Hi Everyone, from my research I am meant to revive an email from Imigration giving me 28days to leave or gain another visa. My ex partner email Imigration a week ago with the updated sercemstance, she received an email from admin saying that they had updated her details. I am yet to receive any message from them I am worried that my 28 days has started already? Does anyone know if there is a back log at them moment? Or if this has happen to anyone else? Thanks for your time Alex
Guest
Do they have an email address to contact you on? Did you notify them yourself?

Thanks for your time Alex I would be assuming that the 28 days started when DIBP were told that you were no longer partners. VEVO may have info on it, have you looked there? Either way I wouldn't be hanging around. The clock is ticking, leave quick or get a new application in.
Murph
iv checked VEVO and nothing has changed, they have my email address and no Iv not contacted them myself. I think I might do that. I don't think they can just start the clock with out telling me. As if I wasn't proactive and looked for myself I would have no idea I had to leave in that time period. QLD1872015
Took a few months for them to actually contact and cancel mine was a right pain. My ex partner let them know and I applied for a student visa.. Didn't read the bridging visa grant properly and didn't realise my bridging visa wasn't in effect due to my 457 defacto still being in place. Finally read it properly two months later when I started to get concerned I hadn't heard back yet. Contacted the student visa processing team who contacted whoever and I was contacted by phone a few days later to confirm if our situation was still the same and sent an intention to cancel my visa notice

Feel like it's a bit of a mess there at the moment. Iv started my state sponsor application so once that's all ready to go I'll chase everything up I recon. It was all a run around he had to send in a stat dec signed by a JP and then they kept forwarding him to a different department saying he wasn't sending it to the correct place. Didn't seem a priority for them tbh
QLD1872015
Be careful though the man that rung me was lovely said I would just have to go into an Immi office to apply for a new bridging visa failed to tell me I would be illegal once the cancellation was finalised and my only option was a bridging visa e. I was highly pissed off

It only needs one of the partners to advise them in order for them to cancel the visa, and although they should issue you with a notice of intent to cancel if it doesn't arrive in your inbox for some reason that doesn't mean it isn't in effect. The 28 days will start from the day they email it to you.

I would not be so sure that they won't start the clock, what if they didn't have a means to contact you for example? They are not just going to keep the visa in place and let you come and go as you please. Whether the vusa is cancelled tomorrow, next week or next month, it will be cancelled and you need to make your other plans as quickly as possible.
