chrischarlton1
So I thought getting my tourist visa would be easy... My ETA was rejected as (unknown to me) I had incurred a debt to the commonwealth when applying for my working holiday visa back in 2004. The debt is AUD$170. Since having received the rejection a couple of weeks ago I have tried to contact everyone from the immi team, debt recovery and the Australian consulate in London. All of which without being able to find a way of paying this debt and getting the ETA I need for my trip which is now in less than 2 weeks. I have today contacted a visa agent who I'm hoping can help but trying to understand what else I can do. In an ideal world I pay the debt electronically and get the visa but given experience to date I'm concerned it won't be that easy! Any suggestions/advice much appreciated... ElToro
You've maybe already tried but recommend you get on the phone and do what you can to speak to someone at the DIBP UK office. https://www.border.gov.au/Locations/Pages/Service-centres/europe-service-centre.aspx Hopefully you're able to get a breakthrough, I imagine it must be an administrative pain to get hold of anyone. Good luck
