Bungo
We thought about it at one point but soon realised that it would be easier to adopt a child than rent furniture! New arrivals but they wanted job references, character references, all kinds of documents- decided it was not worth the effort or indeed the money as it is not cheap either. We had five weeks in our short term let and then about five weeks in the house before container arrived. We went for indoor camping, bought airbeds, bedding, towels, basic white crockery and cutlery. We needed garden furniture anyway as we weren't bringing any so we bought that and used it indoors for a few weeks. We also were only bringing one TV so we decided we might as well buy another and have a spare. Edited June 3, 2016 by Bungo

Any recommendations in teh Sunshine Coast? Probably easier to look at your local buy swap sell facebook group, op shop, freecycle or something like that. Get the basics cheaply or even better free then when your stuff arrives pass it on. I have heard it works out very expensive and there are often minimal rental periods. At least if you own the stuff even if it is older if your shipment is delayed for any reason you wont have to worry about extending a contract on furniture. Op shops have heaps of plates and cutlery, some do furniture and basic appliances too.
Marisawright
Have you got any outdoor furniture on the way? If not, then buy a nice outdoor table and chairs and you can use them as seating and dining table for now. Buy a nice picnic set and that's your crockery and cutlery. Apart from that, I usually recommend people not to bring beds and bed linen. Then they can buy beds and bedding as soon as they arrive. Most other things you can manage without, or substitute cheaply, but buying airbeds is such a waste of money unless you're keen on camping. They never last long anyway!
