Hi everyone

We have been looking at these areas but think they might be a bit far from amenities etc. Can anyone advise us on location and what the areas are like. How far from the city are they? We found that you get bigger house more in land and it seems you get more for your money?

Cheers

Cheers MATE ,lol, first leg to me then, lol

Ok hiya Sarah as youve probably gathered now im in Jimboomba, well Flagstone which is about 5 mins from the centre of Jimboomba and jo is up at Beerwah so you should get 2 decent descriptions.

People think we are 'remote' till they visit and see the developing thats happeed these last few years.Jimboomba has a few different supermarkets(woolworths and coles),hardwear store, takeaways, hairdressers, Dr's, Dentist,Butchers, cheapy shops, chemists, flower shops, tavern, bottle shops,4 childcare centres,2 primarys and a high school/college ,loads really and more on the way.For a big plaza with Big-W,Target etc its 15mins to the new Orion Ctr at Springfield Lakes or 15mins to The Plaza at Browns Plains. The city takes approx 40 mins via either Mt Lyndsey highway or Centenary Highway,Beaches of surfers Paradise etc about 45/50 mins, nothing is too far really. Most people find work within a 30min radius, and property is still very affordable ,you can also choose between acerage and urban style living.Use postcode 4280 on a search of realestate.com.A nice size 4 bed on approx 1000sq mtr plot is around $350,000,on a couple of acers they sell for anything from $400,000-$550,000

You go left from Jimboomba and its getting built up by the minute with Teviot Downs, New Beith, Greenbank ,Boronia heights etc,we will within the next few years nearly meet the new springfield developments which lead over too Ipswich, whilst the other way your 90mins from Northern New South Wales and its as green as you can find ,for us we truely believe its the happy medium!!

over to you Jo,,

Hi there,

There is only one choice here in my opinion,I just love the sunny coast and love the small surrounding villages and towns, and one of those is beerwah.

It's much greener than Jimboomba, and it's very close to the beautiful,non-commercialised beach fronts of the sunshine coast.

Regarding housing the surrounding areas are still quite affordable.

I work on the south side of Brisbane, including Jimboomba and it is just a bit remote and dusty and dry for my liking with a fair bit of graffiti on the childcare centre wall and the park, which was a put off for me,but house prices are still quite reasonable.

If you visit the sunny coast your mind will be made up in an instant!!

Good luck.

Wow! Cal & Jo...this sure has got me thinking now, ahh decisions decisions, I hate making them especially when they involve deciding on a place to live across the other side of the world, it is exciting though. I'll let Andy take a look tonight as he's going to be the one commuting to the city for work but think we have fell in love with both places which now makes our decision even harder! We just didn't want to be in the middle of nowhere with not much around if you see what I mean? I'll be staying at home you see with our little boy who is 2yrs so need lots of things to entertain him, oh and shops to keep me busy too, ha ha. I'll keep you posted and if I think of anything else is it okay to give you a shout? Cheers again.

Hiya ,feel free to ask away ,i didnt realise you had a little boy ,we have FREE activites ,monday, wednesday and fridays run by the council ,its like a playgroup in the park and they bring a big fruit platter, play games, read stories etc , theres also a new playgroup at flagstone primary every monday morning ,that costs a dollar so wont break the bank, lol, i would suggest having a brew with me and popping upto Jo for one too when you arrive and have a look around yourselves ,im sure she wont mind and its only an hour and half travel in between both of us,,

Hi

We are in Beerwah and think it's great for little kids, there are a couple of playgroups, we go to the one at the private school which is very structured and friendly, my daughter goes to the private school Glasshouse Country Christian College which as Jo says is fairly churchy, but you have to weigh that up with the standard of education, bearing in mind the system here is way behind the UK, my little girl loves it there, and we found it was alot more structured than the state school, but we are a little put off sometimes when she comes home singing god songs and praying!! Beerwah state is a good school as far as state schools go, and you avoid the churchy thing too! There are also some other great schools, Glasshouse mountain supposedly being the best state school in the area....but again it depends who you talk too!!!

There are some amazing parks around, my kids love the one with a little bike track and the massive inclusive play park in Landsborough. The main park is very littered/graffitied, but it is hidden away, which is probaly why!! and there are tons more anyhow, so that one can easily be avoided!

There is a friendly library here, which has storytimes etc for preschool kids, and a really nice pool. People here are nice, and it does not take long to get chatting to other mums. It is tipped to be a huge growth area though, so unless you like it busy you may be best to go to Landsborough or Glasshouse (both 5 mins away) The zoo is amazing, we have a years family pass which cost $365 for 2a and upto 3c, (a day family ticket is $155!) and we go at least once a week. Sam loves feeding the roos and watching the croc shows, and Holly is forever trying to find Bindi! At Maleny there is a super rainforest with friendly rangers who love talking to the kids and its great there for a barbie or picnic, big play area, cafe etc. There is plenty to do within a 30 min drive for kids, and you are close to Brissy too. Hope that helps!

Sorry Guys & Gals , don't mean to steer this thread in another direction BUT :biglaugh:

Talking of grafitti, we had the insurance people come to work the other day for the renewal of our policy, on his arrival it was noted by him that we had a 'work of art' otherwise known as 'graffitti' on our building, anyway the graffitti is very high up and we have been advised that before they re-new our policy that we MUST ensure we put ladders up for 'graffitti artists' safety :biglaugh:

What is the UK coming too, not only are they allowed to graffitti your building but you have to spend out to make sure their safe:biglaugh:

Such is life onwards and upwards ! But some graffitti is actually quite attractive but not on my walls LOL

xx

PS Back on subject, looking at this areas and Buderim too , so ile keep reading and keep me nose out LOL

Hi Sarah,

You certainly get more for your money in Beerwah compared to the coast. It will grow in time but from a personal perspective (like everyone else's) we don't think it has much going for it. Maybe in 5 years-but we constantly beat a path up to the coast for restaurants, shops, cinema etc. Maybe it is different because we don't have children but we certainly don't think it has a lot going for it. You can't even get a decent take out !!!! And we have noticed as the 'lego-land' estates are growing and more people are coming in, the graffiti is slowly getting worse and there are more burn out marks on the road-still on the general scheme of things I could name far worse areas !!! Perhaps it is also because we live slightly out of town and don't see many people either !! But Beerwah seems dead !
