Land line numbers UK

Recommended Posts

I wonder if anyone can help - When you return to your original address in the UK, does the address have the landline phone number or can it change?

I have assumed that our tenant inherited the land line number from us - and then we would get it back... Is this correct?

I think they can have asked BT for a new number. When we rented in the uk before coming to Australia we asked BT for a new number.Only they can tell you if they sill have your old number.Ask them or you agent.

Unless things have changed the number is owned by the bill payer. So if they want to take it with them they can, of course they may have brought their own number with them from their previous place.

This is true. The number does not belong to the house and can be ported (Ie moved) to a different address at the request of the current number owner. It is a simple process carried out at the exchange. Technology has changed over the years and even area codes can be moved to a different area as the numbers are generated electronically within the exchange equipment (although they try to avoid this).
