Diane
He truly was the voice of my childhood, remember listening to him as I got ready to go to school (my Mum always had him on) then much later when I was driving to and from work in to early 2000s... he seemed totally ageless. flag of convenience
Another one to add to the Grim Reaper tally. They appear to be coming thick and fast of late. He seemed to have been around for ever. Besides his radio breakfast show, his long association with Eurovision and dry humour combined made him a real stand out. caramac
That's so sad. I thought there must be something very wrong with him when he didn't do Children in Need in November. Like Diane, I remember listening to him while getting ready for school. My mum had radio 2 on all day, so it was him, Pete Murray, Jimmy Young, The Archers, Waggoner's Walk etc that I listened to if I was off sick. RIP Sir Terry. the bottler
I used to listen to him in the morning when I drove home from work ... no matter how difficult the night he always made me laugh ...
Que Sera Sera
Loved his voice, love the Irish accent anyway but his voice was just liquid gold. What a lovely man he appeared to be.
Diane
And what a career he had! From Blanketty Blank to Children in Need via The Floral Dance, Terry's Old Gits (TOGS), Eurovision, Chat Show Host - seemed to manage to appeal to all ages, and never a whiff of scandal about him. Seemed like a true gentleman in all senses of the word.

barbaitch
Really feeling sad this morning, knowing Terry Wogan has departed this world. What a huge loss to his fanbase and all those who loved his gentle humour and soothing voice every morning on Radio 2 for so many years. Can't believe he's gone. So many well-loved, household names we've grown up with for many years have passed recently and each one a stark reminder that life is so short. And all the more reason to concentrate on making the very best of each and every day we're blessed with, while we can. RIP dear Terry. You definitely earned your stripes on this earth. Diane
I tried to explain to the people at work what a huge loss he is and how he has been a part of so many people's lives through the years, and they just looked at me like I was mad. Glad I'm not the only one feeling so sad about this.
barbaitch
Yes, same here. Woke up with Wogan for donkey's years! Bless his lovely heart. Must be party-time in Heaven, with so many of our much-loved entertainers moving there - too many to name now, for fear of leaving anyone out!! Carpe diem, all! starlight7
I can't remember many of the old British hosts but I do remember Terry Wogan because of his great personality. A sad loss.
Lindor
I'm sad about this too Diane. Used to listen to his Radio 2 show while driving home after nightshift, didn't mind being stuck in traffic! Loved it, loved watching Children in Need later in the programme when he'd had a few drinks! A funny and hugely talented man! RIP Sir Terry....
