Guest Unregistered
Hi, My name is Steven, I am a plater( In Australia I think this is know as a boiler maker)with 20+ years experience in a wide variety of metal work and welding, although I don't hold any codes for welding, I am proficient in mma and mig. I would like the opportunity to emigrate to southern Australia with my family. What I am interested to find out is the work situation, how myself and my family could integrate into the Australian way of lif e. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. OK thanks for your time and help. Stevie.
Guest
Hi Steven. I really don't know what the market is like in SA atm for your line of work. The job situation in some fields of work isn't great here atm but thats not to say everyone is jobless or all people who migrate here fail to secure employment. I'd suggest posting about South Australian stuff in our South Australia section of the forum as many from there will miss this sort of thing posted here. And also to join our sister site, Poms in Adelaide and ask any questions about SA/Adelaide over there as well http://www.pomsinadelaide.com/ It may be I'll move this post to the South Australia section anyways to help see if it will get more replies. Guest
You need to see if your profession is on the SOL or CSOL. And also if you can have your skills assessed etc. https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Work/Work/Skills-assessment-and-assessing-authorities/skilled-occupations-lists
Jessica Berry
I would suggest having a read of a couple of threads over on the sister site Poms in Adelaide regarding boilermaker work.... http://www.pomsinadelaide.com/forum/migration-issues/47483-very-beginning.html http://www.pomsinadelaide.com/forum/jobs-careers/47567-30-more-gone.html
