Any tips on writing ACS RPL?!!

Hi All

My hubby and I are just about to pay the agency fee to start the migration process.

I apparently need to complete an RPL for the ACS to assess my skills (computing professional). I'm finding this prospect a little scary and I know the agent will help.

I really want to get a head start - so any tips?!!

Our success is dependant on my skills assessment being passed so failure isn't an option for us. No pressure! LOL.

My sister is already in Perth, our parents are starting the process too. We all want a betteer life - mainly for our son (2 on Sunday, bless).

Hi

There is a website called rplhelp.com that is really useful. For a few pounds you can buy examples of rpl's that have successfully passed assessment and it is worth the money even if you are using an agent.

Good luck.

Suzie,

What is your husband going for. I have just passed the ACS - RPL as a project manager (ASCO 1224-11). If he is going down the same route i may be able to help with a template version of what i sent. Get your husband to PM me if this is of any help

Thanks for the quick feedback - figured I'd be waiting a bit - most impressed.

I've got to do the RPL - going Computing Professional (nec), chosen DB administrator for the CBOK. My job, like most nowadays is so diverse, falls into several categories that although listed within the definitions for computing professional (Supervisor, technical writer, db admin), I can only list one as specialist. Should be a bit of sport!

The RPL help site looks good, so I'll be making use of that. I'll take all the advise I can get at this point!

Thanks

Suzie

Hi Andy

Sorry for the delay, I haven't been in this thread for a while.

My hubby is actually HGV, I'm the techy - manged to pass ACS as Systems Manager (2231-11). Although I was going for 2231-79 but I guess because my role is so broad they gave me a different code. GUTTED because it means I'm off list for WA State Sponsorship. But at least a pass is a pass right. Gotta be positive.

Hi. I would advise against using rplhelp at the moment as the whole RPL process has changed so the site wont be of much use until people have posted new info. I used Peter Chiam from ptlabs.com.au. Worth every penny

@ Skipling: Not considering other state options?

@ Cantwait: In fact now that ACS has caught up with anti-plagiarism software you'd need to be careful about any assistance, automated or otherwise, which involves standard models. Our current methodology for RPLs resembles pretty much a personal trainer approach - draft and response - to ensure an absence of anything remotely resembling cut and paste, presumably other agents work the same way.

Cheers,
